Had I Known

had i known that my entrance was like
thunder
my presence like spring rain
and my exit like
lightning…



had i known that my curves caused you
discomfort
my walk caused you to pause
and my skin caused you to
burn…

had i known my hair was roots
my voice honey
and my words
reflection…

had i known these things
i would’ve made friends
with
myself
sooner.

had i known
that you knew
i would’ve
expected
more
from you.
